The Design Process



If the installation of a putting green is the science, the design is definitely the art. Designing a green that fits with the customer's desires for his property and with the characteristics of quality golf course construction is our goal at The Putting Green Company. Our ability to do this is what sets us apart from everyone else in the industry.

First, we find out all we can about the property in question. Whether it be through verbal description, pictures, parcel maps, or an actual site visit, we find out about existing landscaping, the space considered for the project, and the accessibility of the property. All this information determines the direction for the project.

Next, and most importantly, we find out what the customer wants. Do you have a specific plan for the project or overall landscaping, or do you want us to offer ideas and choices? We consider this the most important phase of any project.

We then take all this information and begin to formulate a master plan. Our ideas for any project are based on the desires of the customer, our experience in designing and building putting greens, and our overall knowledge of the game. We strive to build greens that are pleasing to the eye, challenging to the player, and within your budget. We encourage you to be as involved as you would like to be in the development of the master plan.

Once the master plan is established, we present it along with a cost estimate for the project and a time frame for its completion. Once we have a signed agreement, then we can begin!
